Junior Ray Montgomery

Junior Ray Montgomery, of Ezel, KY, died unexpectedly at his home on March 1,2024. He was 76 years old. Junior Ray was the son of Eb Montgomery and Addie Jenkins Montgomery of Wellington, KY. He retired from the Department of Juvenile Justice, but some may remember him as a bailiff for the Morgan County Court System. He was a member of the Pine Grove Community Church. He was also Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Junior Ray loved horse riding, trips to the flea market, sitting by the pond and patrolling the neighborhood in his Kubota. He loved telling stories and having a laugh in good company. In his later years, Junior Ray enjoyed spending his days doing whatever his great-granddaughter, Janna, had planned for them-Kubota rides, playing doctor, and feeding their sidekick, Spot, plenty of treats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Addie Jenkins Montgomery, one son, Adam, and his father-in-law, Joe Lane.

His memory will be kept alive by his surviving family, his mother-in-law, Jane Lane, His wife Betty Jo Lane Montgomery, his son, Darren & Katrina Montgomery of Ezel, KY. A daughter-in-law, Missy and Cory Hoskins of West Liberty, KY. Sister, Connie and Jerry Howard, Ezel, KY. Seven grandchildren, Ben and Emily Montgomery, Kaci Montgomery (Dylan Perry), Kacie Jones (Brian Cantrell), Karson Jones, Preston Hoskins, Carson Hoskins and Tori Hoskins. One great-granddaughter, Janna Montgomery and a host of nephews, nieces and special friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Monday, March 4,2024 at Pine Grove Community Church,4000 Hwy 882,Ezel, KY with Bro. Aaron Brooks officiating. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation starts 6:00pm, Sunday at the Pine Grove Community Church, Ezel, KY. Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.

Pallbearers are Landon Lawson, James Lane, Allen Lane, Ben Montgomery, Cory Hoskins, Dylan Perry, Brian Cantrell and Karson Jones.
